Lying is commonplace for me.
I usually don’t paint much, but I felt the need to paint something on the occasion of this exhibition.
I’m influenced by pop art.
The word “pop” evokes the sound of something popping, but it carries a nuance that somehow escapes us.
What’s “pop” is born and then vanishes in the next instant. With each momentary pleasure comes what could only be called an opposing sense of displeasure at the same time.
It’s childish and violent; the dream and the reality. When two things that seem opposed are blended together, we feel a powerful sense that this is real.
Today ends before it begins when something that seems true is placed side by side with a lie, or when we get the feeling that we’ve seen the truth and are satisfied.
