Toya Chicaco uses animals as motifs, incorporating good luck poses and auspicious motifs, while mixing in elements from fairy tales, vivid colors, and slightly unrealistic concepts to create her own fantastical world.
This exhibition will feature more than 20 works, including new works that will make the viewer’s heart feel lighter and brighter.

Toya Chicako
Born in Kyoto Prefecture, she now lives in Tokyo. After working at a company for a time, she began her creative endeavors in 2012. While working as an illustrator, she has participated in solo and other exhibitions both in Japan and abroad, and in recent years has been devoting herself to expressing herself as an artist.
With the theme of harmony without borders, she depicts the cuteness and strength of living creatures, moving between fantasy and everyday life. With vivid colors and a soft perspective, she invites the viewer into a story-like world.
As I began to think about creating works that would bring happiness, I began to pay more attention to auspicious motifs. By incorporating these motifs, I feel that not only the benefits that have been passed down from long ago, but also the works themselves contain a mysterious power.
This time, I aimed for a poppy and bright atmosphere by incorporating good luck poses and other elements. I would be very pleased to know you feel even a little brighter by looking at my work.
I would also be happy if you enjoy my “Loving Masterpiece” series, a project which I have been working on for several years. It incorporates a series of works that depict famous paintings with adorable animals.
