Wisut Ponnimit's “Mamuang Gift Shop”
Pop-up Starting Wednesday, December 15!

A “Mamuang Gift Shop” will open featuring Mamuang, a popular character by Thai artist Wissut Ponnimit.
There will be a large number of Mamuang-related goods available. In addition, as a limited time pop-up event, there will also be a variety of items that were born through Wisut Ponnimit’s works, such as a collaboration with Hello Kitty, stationary, t-shirts, accessories including earrings and much more. Visitors can also purchase goods that are sold at the Mamuang Cafe and Mamuang Shop, the new must-see locations in Bangkok, Thailand.
In addition to these goods, there will also be an exhibition section that will be displaying lithographs and drawings. Be sure not to miss this opportunity to enjoy the world of Mamuang.

■ About the Exhibition

Born 1976 in Thailand, Wisut is nicknamed “Tam-kun” in Japan. He has produced numerous exhibitions and works to date. In 2009, he received the Japan Media Arts Festival Manga Division Encouragement Prize, a first for a foreign artist. He is also highly acclaimed both in Japan and overseas in the worlds of animation and music.

“Mamuang” is a popular Wisut character that is growing in popularity not only in Japan and Thailand, but in many other countries through social media. This exhibition focuses on the manga manuscript for “Mamuang to Lala chan,” which is serialized in the magazine Liniere and features Mamuang and the cat Lala-chan, and the original drawings inspired by the world of manga. It conveys the stories, message, and charm of the artist and the characters.

■ Wisut Ponnimit

Born in 1976, Wisut is a Thai manga artist based in Bangkok. After debuting as manga artist in Thailand in 1998, Wisut came to study in Japan and spent 4 years from 2003 to 2006 in Kobe. In 2009, he received the Manga Encouragement Award in the Japan Media Art Festival for his manga hesheit aqua. His major manga works include Blanco, hesheit and Mamuang. Apart from manga, Wisut continues to create animation and music works. His major manga works include Blanco, hesheit and Mamuang. He also produced the music video for Amber Colored City – The Morning of The Shanghai Crab by Quruli. In 2020, he published Happy Mamuang and Hoguhogu Mamuang-chan.
