The KUDAN Project: A New Take on the Buddhist Altar, Courtesy of Sanjo Butsudan and Mé

Roppongi Crossing 2019 participating artists Mé, and traditional Sanjo Butsudan Buddhist altar craftsmen from Niigata, have joined forces to create a new form of home altar, the “KUDAN.”
The KUDAN is constructed using traditional techniques and materials, with Mé responsible for the planning and oversight of the project, and final finishing touches.

The incense is “Horikawa” (River Path) by venerable Kyoto incense maker Shoyeido, selected by Mé, and specially packaged for the KUDAN project.
