Inoue Yuki is a contemporary artist who expresses modern society in a cynical and humorous way with the theme of “evolution,” using salamanders as a motif. This exhibition features works that address the sense of disenchantment and crisis that pervades the world today by looking at the space between “inside” and “outside,” which themselves come about by being separated by a border.
Born in Yokosuka City, Kanagawa Prefecture in 1972. Graduated from Tama Art University with a major in sculpture. Since his first solo exhibition in 2003, Inoue has been creating works based on the salamander theme, and has been active mainly in solo exhibitions at art galleries and department stores, both inside and outside of Japan. In recent years, Inoue has expanded into collaborative product design with apparel brands, as well as the design of art-related goods.
