Katsura Noriko expresses a world where life is dynamic by repeatedly using motifs that appear to be plants, animals, cells, and organs, with the theme of beginning and evolution of life. This exhibition will showcase 20 of her new works, including her paintings and pottery, inspired by her own experiences of pregnancy, childbirth and childcare.

I choose motifs that are precious for me.
When I paint these motifs, they then become even more precious, like my child.
These are the pieces that I worked on during my pregnancy.
Thinking of the food I ate for yet-to-be-born baby’s health,
Imagining the baby working hard to come through the birth canal,
Asking the baby “How are you feeling? Are you comfortable?”
Since the birth, I’ve been experiencing both “bliss” and “agony” like never before.
