Sasaki Kanako
Born in Sendai City, Miyagi Prefecture in 1983. Graduated from the Department of Industrial Design, Tohoku Institute of Technology.
Sasaki began her career as an illustrator at the age of 22, and has worked on numerous advertising visuals, product packages and collaborations with companies, mainly in the fashion industry. In recent years, she has been active in producing abstract paintings, participating in solo and group exhibitions, art fairs and other events.
I have a strong emotional attachment to the color “blue,” as it remains in my memory of the colors I experienced while in my mother’s womb.
“Blue” was the color that I also came to terms with when my mother took wings to the sky.
My “REBORN” series of works, shown in the exhibition represents the rebirth of my awareness of the color blue in the form of ever-evolving and dividing cells, as I keep my memories of the past close to my heart.
It is precisely because we are human and because we have a past that we can enjoy the evolution of being “reborn” and “beginning to move forward,” I hope that this exhibition will “flip the switch” that connects to hope for our future.
