The TENGAI project got its start in 2014 as a project to discover and introduce unconventional artists who embody the principles of BASARA advocated by Tenmyouya Hisashi.
Now in its fifth installment, we will hold a solo exhibition of Sera Roji. Sera is an up-and-coming artist who combines figurines (perhaps the specialty of Japan’s anime/manga), using a readymade technique to transform them into brand new forms. Sera’s works align manga magazines with three-dimensional pieces in pitch-black color. Some of these are also entwined with colorful stones, threads and buttons. The exhibition contains all brand-new works of contrast between pitch black and multiple colors.
