Miyajima Tatsuo prints available for sale as part of a fundraiser for his Sea of Time - TOHOKU project.
The Sea of Time - TOHOKU project is to mourn the victims of the Great East Japan Earthquake and to pass on the memory of the disaster, wishing to create the future together, this is an art project involving 3,000 people.
All of the prints offered are works specifically created for this project. There are 12 different designs available (35 copies of each design available, framed).

What is the Sea of Time - TOHOKU project?

Triggered by the Great East Japan Earthquake, this art project was created by contemporary artist Tatsuo Miyajima with the desire to commemorate the victims, preserve memories of the earthquake, and together build the future of Tohoku, in collaboration with people living in Tohoku and those who care about the region.

Based on the concepts “It keeps changing,” “It connects with everything,” and “It continues forever,” Miyajima, who consistently expresses life and death and the nature of life using LED digital counters that symbolize the eternity of life, is working on his artwork Sea of Time - TOHOKU in this project, engaging with 3,000 people.

Tatsuo Miyajima

Born in Tokyo in 1957, Miyajima earned his M.A. from Tokyo University of the Arts in 1986. Since gaining international attention at the Aperto ’88, the young artists’ section of the Venice Biennale, he has continued to be active both domestically and internationally as one of Japan’s leading contemporary artists.
