SOMETA NEEDY Vol.3.0

SOMETA is a creator of portrait artwork that reconstructs the elements of anime, manga, cultural publications, fashion and more that have strongly influenced them based on the theme of being needy, a complex internalized feeling of wanting approval or to be accepted, experienced by many people in today’s social media-laden culture.
The artist hopes that with this exhibition visitors can empathize with the portraits of needy girls who have become just a bit more adult-like, as they are drawn into the works on display. This exhibition is to be a culmination of SOMETA’s work, bringing together works that condense the values and expressions inspired by social media.

Began creating digital art through self-study in 2020, publishing content predominantly via social media, and began to work in earnest as an artist in 2022. SOMETA’s work came about from releasing artwork on social media as a result of their own feelings of need. SOMETA continues to express the neediness that so many feel in this era of social media through portrait art.
